Our sincere condolences go to the family, children and friends of Rhukaya Lake, the Kearsley woman who was brutally murdered on Friday night 30/11/2025. She was the mother of four boys. Her seven year-old son was found in the middle of the street, screaming.
Police arrived to find a horrific domestic violence situation and later arrested Christopher McLoughney, who is known to frequent the Cessnock area.
The Newcastle Weekly “understands the woman is the 58th to die at the hands of domestic violence in 2025.” This is an appalling and totally unacceptable statistic!
Truly, our hearts go out to all those people who have been affected by this heinous crime.

Why the Phoenix?
The Phoenix is a mythical bird. Although destroyed by fire, it is reborn again in an innovative and revitalised life. Women in domestic violence, like the Phoenix, can also be reborn ... to become self assured and empowered, with the potential to fulfil their own destiny.
